3 Easy Steps to Set Up an Alert in TradingView
You will encounter challenges or problems that need to be overcome. We’ve laid out a three-step guide to help you set up an alert in TradingView.
- 1. What are Alerts and why are they are so important.
- 2. Requirements to use TradingView Alerts.
- 3. Set up an Alert in TradingView.
Step 1: What are Alerts and why they are so important
Have you ever missed a trading opportunity because you didn’t look at the charts, or because the whole market got dumped and you didn’t close your trade on time? This is something we’ve all been through.
This is exactly why alerts are such a great tool to use. Any trader can benefit from being aware of their trades.
Alerts are instant real-time notifications that occur as soon as the strategy sends a signal (e.g. buy, sell, close, take profit, stop loss). Notifications can be sent via browser pop-up, email, SMS or mobile phone push notifications.
Step 2: Requirements to use TradingView Alerts
TradingView Alerts are limited for each account type:
- 1 active Alert for a FREE account.
- 10 active Alerts for a PRO account.
- 30 active Alerts for a PRO+ account.
- 400 active Alerts for a PREMIUM account.
With each active Alert, a cryptocurrency pair can receive ALL notifications on the specified time frame (buy, sell, exit, take profit, stop loss).
Open-ended Alerts (Alerts that don’t Expire) are not enabled for free users, they must renew their Alerts every 60 days. Use our TradingView reference link for a 30$ discount click here.
Step 3: Lets set-up an Alert
- Make sure the trading strategy is selected and active.
- Select the cryptocurrency pair for which you would like to receive Alerts.
- Select the correct timeframe.
- Determine the type of alerts you want to receive; long signals, short signals, or both.
You can disable long or short Alert signals in the strategy settings:
If all the above is set up correctly, it’s time to create an Actual Alert. In our example, we will create an alert for BTCUSDT pair.
- Press ALT + A and the following pop-up will appear:
- In the Condition dropdown select the ELLIPSE strategy:
- Select the expiration date. Free users are advised to select the maximum of 60 days (be sure to refresh the Alert after 60 days). If you are not a free user, select open-ended:
- Select the Alert actions you prefer. There are many options, such as browser pop-up, email, SMS or mobile phone push notifications:
- Give your Alert a name and fill in the message field. It is recommended that you enter the following placeholder in the message box: {{strategy.order.comment}}. This allows the Alert Message to automatically display the appropriate trigger comment (buy, sell, exit, take profit, stop loss) when you receive the Alert message.
- Click Create at the bottom and you’re done! Easy right?
If you want to create more Alerts, simply repeat these steps. Alerts can be edited, deleted, or paused in the top right corner of the Alert menu:
